Within Freemasonry, one can attain the title of Knight Templar by participating in the degree work of the York Rite, which is an appendant body of Blue Lodge. Any person, after being raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason, can choose to participate in any appendant body, such as The Shriners, Scottish Rite, or York Rite.
